Blahg

No, that's not a typo. That is how I feel about blogging right now. Blah.

I'm going through one of those inevitable phases that I think everyone goes through. Why do I blog?

I don't have a business to promote, although I love my new sewing hobby and love sharing little crafts when I get around to them. I'm not a fabulous chef, although I do love to eat and try new recipes. I'm not on a mission trip, although I'm very passionate about the work I do every day. I'm not a fashionista, although clothes are my third love (Jesus and the hubs are first and second).

So, there is a multitude of things I could blog about, but it is such a hodge-podge of subjects and I often wonder, "Who cares?" Those of you who do read this blog have always been so complementary and nice, so please don't read this as me fishing for your complements. I'm simply asking myself what I get out of blogging and if/why I feel the need (or desire) to continue doing it.

So this is what I'm working through in my head. If you were wondering where I've been, now you know. If you're expecting more posts from me in the near future, don't hold your breath. :) I may be back soon, or it may be a little while longer.

I would love to hear your feedback, though! How do you deal with a blog funk? What do you do when you have zero motivation to blog or you find yourself wondering why you even blog in the first place? Looking forward to your thoughts!

  1. Mostly, I do it to share my family's story. When I get in a rut, I think of what I'll want to read back on from the past year. Most of it is the daily, "boring" stuff. I try to think of the blog as a "memory" book for Sam and I.

When I read this post, it really changed how I thought about blogging. Read it.

  2. I feel the same way most of the time...don't really think there is much of a point to my blog but I just end up blogging when I think about it/feel like it....if I don't blog for three months oh well lol :) I love reading yours though!!

  3. I understand how you feel completely. I've recently taken an almost 3 week hiatus and I know I have stuff to blog about but not sure people really care. So I decided to just do it for me when I want. No pressure!

  4. I second that! But what I try to remember is that we don't live near any family any more so this is one of the ways they can have a better, visual picture of what is going on in our lives. Scott's grandparents check the blog and let me know when I'm slacking...which is frequently. So that is my encouragement to you because I know you don't live by all your fam either and as Mallory said, if we don't blog for a few months, OH WELL! =)

  5. Hey girl! Found your blog today through Chelsea over at Taste & See =)
I think the beauty of blogging is that you can totally write about whatever the Lord places on your heart =)
You don't have to be the best at what you want to share or do, just be willing to be used by Him and I am sure He will use your influence on this space for His glory! =)
I can't wait to see what direction you take and what you choose to share about from your life =)
    Much Love,

  6. The great thing about blogging is that you can get your heart out. When you go through a rough patch, you can look back and remember Gods faithfulness!
